Happy Halloween

Well, this is the last of my Halloween cards.
I've had fun making them.
Now, on to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
This is a Bugaboo image.
They are having a design team call right now
so expect to see my application post in the next
few days. I had so much fun being a
Guest Designer for them that I'm going
to give it my best shot to try to land
a Design Team spot this time.
I absolutely adore their images.
As you can see in the label column on the right
side of the blog....I've made several cards
with their images :)
Hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween!!

PPRS "black" cat

I made this card with a
Prickley Pear Rubber Stamp.
An easy technique actually.
I stamped the cat on a piece of patterned paper
with Versamark ink then embossed it with clear
embossing powder. Then I took a sponge
dauber rubbed with black ink and rubbed in
circular motions around and over the stamped
image. After that I rubbed the image itself over
with a paper towel which cleaned it up and buffed it
out a bit making it pop off the paper. Now you
can see the patterned paper design in the background.
So easy!! Then I cut it out with nestabilities die and
finished layering my card. I tied the black ribbon
in a knot and thought, "that looks like a bat" so
there you go.....3 black bats to accent the card.
The "Goulish Greetings" sentiment is PPRS too.
This won't be the last time you see me use this
technique!

GOING BATTY WITH PPRS

This card was so incredibly easy to make.
The bat stamp is a new
I stamped it on patterned paper that was
in a set from the Target $1 section.
I simply stamped the bat in black over the paper
with words, layered that onto orange
cardstock then placed that on the star
background paper which was layered on top
of the actual orange card.
I cut out the stars using my Cricut.
sponged the sides of everything with
black ink to help soften it.
Tied the ribbon on the top and
Viola - Done!

Prickley Pear Stamps - Design Team Member

I'm happy to announce that I've
been chosen to be a
Design Team Member
for
They have tons and tons of stamps and much much more.
New to the store is stamps and die sets,
they also have beautiful transparencies.
There are so many things you can do with transparencies...
I had no idea. Stay posted for an idea list for them.
I'm so excited and honored to accept this position and
I look forward to making loads of things for them.
above card:
items used: cuttlebug folder, misc B&T paper
Prickley Pear sentiment stamp and leaf stamp
Autumn colored flower soft, tacky glue, brown
chalk

LATTE LOUNGE CHALLENGE

I made this card for the Stamping Boutique/Latte Lounge. Bugaboo is sponsoring them the month of September. Not much time left to participate. I can't believe that it's almost October!!! Have you heard that poem? "Everything I really need to know I learned in Kindergarten" it's very cute and true.

All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten
    -- Robert Fulghum

  1. Share everything.
  2. Play fair.
  3. Don't hit people.
  4. Put things back where you found them.
  5. Clean up your own mess.
  6. Don't take things that aren't yours.
  7. Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
  8. Wash your hands before you eat.
  9. Flush.
  10. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
  11. Live a balanced life--learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
  12. Take a nap every afternoon.
  13. When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together.
  14. Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
  15. Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup--they all die. So do we.
  16. And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned--the biggest word of all--LOOK.
My sons kindergarten teacher is retiring after this school year. He's in 4th grade now. I'm going to give this card to her at the end of the year.

Tutorial Wednesday

A few weeks ago I had an idea.
I had bought some paper with a white "core" and when
embossed you could sand the raised areas with
sandpaper and the white core would come through.
So I decided to paint a piece of white paper with paint
emboss and see what happens.
Well, that's just what I did to this card.
step 1: paint (acrylic pain is what I used) your
white paper (textured works best). Allow to dry completely.
step 2: emboss paper with an embossing folder using
a cuttlebug or similar device.
step 3: sand the raised areas with sandpaper for
desired effect.
step 4: complete your card.
Think of the possibilities....experiment with different
colors of paper, grades of sandpaper, sand a little or a lot.
Happy paper crafting!

Tiddly Inks sketch challenge

Phew!
Cutting it close on this one. Had
such a busy weekend, didn't get all the
things accomplished that I wanted to
and apparently I'm going through
4th grade all over again - vicariously
through my son.
As if once wasn't enough!!
This is a sketch challenge for Tiddly Inks.
This is one of their newest images.
I just love their images -- totally "my style"
Be sure to check out their next challenge

Squigglefly challenge

Squigglefly's challenge
this week is to use your favorite embellishment.
Mine is Flower Soft.
You must try this product, it's the bomb!!
It's great for scarfs and with winter coming
you know we'll be coloring a lot of scarfs.
The grey/black paper on the left hand side of the card
is coordinates paper. the core is a different color
or a lighter version of the top color so when
embossed and sanded it gives this effect.
It's pretty neat stuff. I discovered a way
to make your own paper just like this.
Come back on Wednesday for details.
